Getting started

How does getting started work?+

You apply at payodin.com — it's free to apply. A real person reviews every application; PayOdin is selective, so it isn't an automatic sign-up. Once you're approved, you complete a one-time identity check, which is required before your first payout. After that, you can create proposals, agreements, and invoices.

What information or documents do I need?+

To open your account: your name and email. To verify your identity before your first payout: your full legal name, date of birth, nationality, a government-issued photo ID, and proof of address. To get paid: your bank account details.

Invoicing & getting paid

How does invoicing work once I’m set up?+

PayOdin covers the whole journey, and it's best to start at the proposal: create a proposal for your client, turn it into a signed agreement, then raise your invoice against what was agreed. Already mid-project? You can start at the invoice. Every invoice you raise is read by a real PayOdin team member before it reaches your client — they check the amount, currency, required fields, and formatting. PayOdin then issues the invoice in its own name, as a registered US company.

How does my client receive and pay the invoice?+

After review, PayOdin sends your client a secure payment link. They don't create an account — they log in with their email and a one-time code, and see the proposal, agreement, and invoice in one place. They pay PayOdin — the US company named on the invoice — the same way they'd pay any vendor.

Which payment methods and currencies are supported?+

Your client can pay by card or by bank/wire transfer. Invoices can be issued in US dollars (our primary currency), euros, or pounds sterling.

The fee

How is the 4% fee calculated, and when is it deducted?+

It's 4% of the invoice, or a minimum of $20 / €20 / £20 (whichever is higher), in the invoice's currency. It's deducted from your payout after your client pays — never charged upfront, and never billed to you separately. It doesn't appear on your client's invoice; you see it as a line on your Payout Statement.

Are there any other fees besides the 4%?+

No PayOdin fees beyond the 4% (or the per-currency minimum) — no subscription, setup, listing, or withdrawal fees, and no hidden currency-conversion markup. The only cost outside our control is your own bank: some banks charge to receive an incoming transfer, and that's on your side.

Payouts & currency

How long does a payment take to process?+

How quickly a payment clears depends on how your client pays — a card payment and a bank/wire transfer clear on different timelines. Your payout is released once two things are true: the client's payment has cleared, and your delivery has been confirmed.

When do I get paid after my client pays?+

Once the payment has cleared and delivery is confirmed, your payout is released within 5 business days. Delivery is confirmed one of two ways: for a deliverable (a file, design, or build), your client has 7 days to accept — no response means it's accepted automatically; for ongoing or service work, they acknowledge it, with automatic acknowledgment if they don't respond within the hold window. Either way, if your client goes quiet after the work is done, you still get paid.

Which currencies can I receive my payout in?+

US dollars (the default), euros, or pounds sterling.

How are currency conversions handled?+

If your payout currency matches the invoice currency, there's no conversion. If one is needed — say the invoice is in USD and you're paid in EUR — it's done at the mid-market rate on the day of payout, with no hidden markup.

Good to know

Are there limits on invoice amounts or how many I can send?+

There's no fixed cap on invoice size or the number of invoices you send. As with any regulated payment service, larger amounts or unusual activity may prompt additional verification.

Anything else I should know before I start?+

A few things: every invoice gets a real human review before your client sees it — that's the heart of what PayOdin does; identity verification is required before your first payout; payouts are released only after the client's payment clears and delivery is confirmed, so it isn't an escrow; and in the rare case a client reverses a payment after you've already been paid, you may need to return the disputed amount (before payout, PayOdin absorbs it).
